Just like affairs of the heart, many people have a preferred ‘type’ when it comes to cleansers. Meet our cleansers by their type and find out why there’s one which is conspicuously absent from our list!

Clear Skin Daily Face and Body Wash is your second option if you love a gel cleanser. This one is particularly well suited to those with problematic skins thanks to the addition of Salicylic Acid to clear the oil and debris out from deep down in the pore, alongside natural antibacterial agents Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Thyme. As its name suggests, it’s also great for using elsewhere on your body if you suffer from body breakouts. With a soft gel consistency, this powerful cleanser leaves your skin feeling fresh, clean and hydrated, without stripping or drying.

Where’s the foaming cleanser?

Bubbles belong in your champagne, not your cleanser! If you’re a regular reader of The Edit, it will come as no surprise to you that there’s no foaming cleansers here. If you’re not, let us explain.

In order to create that foamy texture, most brands use a foaming agent like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) which has a high pH. Why does that matter? Well, it strips away your skin’s natural protective barrier, leaving it wide open to be attacked by nasties. This can result in irritation, breakouts and more. You know that “squeaky clean” feeling you get after using a foaming face wash? That’s basically the feeling of your skin having been completely stripped of its protective barrier. While some people like the feeling, in reality it’s a complete disaster for your skin. (Sorry!)

Rather than compromising the skin, Alpha-H’s cleansers all contain no highly alkaline foaming agents, and instead help to return your skin to pH balance so it can protect itself properly. While it might take you a little time to get used to not having a foaming cleanser, we guarantee you that moving away from a product which strips your skin to one which respects and supports your skin will deliver benefits in spades!
